Police have arrested five alleged shooters in connection with the murder of Siwan journalist Rajdeo Ranjan on Wednesday.”An SIT was formed in the case of Siwan journalist murder case. Five people who were arrested have given their statement and confessed to committing the crime. Soon weapon of offence will be investigated by ballistic experts. Some arrests are still to be made, said Sunil Kumar (ADG).
The Siwan district administration on Wednesday carried out surprise inspection at Siwan Central Jail as part of security audit and arrested 63 visitors, a police officer said. Though it was not connected with the journalist murder case, police claimed.A day after his prison cell was searched by police in connection with the murder of journalist Rajdeo Ranjan in Bihar, RJD’s former parliament member Mohammad Shahabuddin was shifted from Siwan to Bhagalpur jail, officials said on Thursday.The opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leaders have alleged that Shahabuddin had been pulling strings while being jailed in Siwan and had played a role in the killing of Rajdeo Ranjan.Ranjan, the bureau chief of a vernacular daily, was shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Siwan town.Under severe attack from the opposition for lawlessness in Bihar, the state government has recommended for a CBI probe in the journalist murder case.
