Patna: One Moti Kumar Singh, 40, of S K Puri locality was shot dead around 8.30pm in the parking area of an apartment behind a shopping mall on Fraser Road under Kotwali police station on Thursday.The deceased was a contractor. He was allegedly shot by one Umesh Kumar Singh. Both were engaged in construction business, police said.
Neeraj Kumar Singh, a friend of Moti, has been detained in this connection. He is an eyewitness in the case. Umesh stays in the same apartment where Moti was killed.Neeraj told police that Moti had come to take back his money from Umesh. Both had heated exchange of words before Umesh opened fired at Moti.Patna SSP Manu Maharaaj said, “Moti was sent to PMCH where he was declared brought dead. Umesh’s wife and daughter are at home. Some live cartridges similar to the one fired at Moti were seized from Umesh’s house. It seems that he fired from his licensed gun. Umesh probably fled on foot.”Sources said both Moti and Umesh hail from Mokama. Earlier, they used to work for Mokama MLA Anant Singh, who is in jail.
